About Lilly Valley Co

“Lilly Valley Co,” was inspired by the hymn “The Lily of the Valley” and the story in Proverbs. (My married name, Del Valle, means “of the valley” in Spanish and my middle name is Lilly, a happy coincidence.)

I love the hymn that echos King Solomon’s poetic illustration of the bride and groom offering their words of loving devotion to each other. The bride speaks of herself as a common flower, unworthy to be chosen yet cherished by her groom anyway. I believe that the love of Christ can be found throughout any part of the scripture, and this hymn speaks to that beautifully. My deepest desire is to simply and humbly reflect the love of God in my everyday life.

I am a home-educating, homeschooling, violin-playing, book reading mother of four girls. By God’s grace we have been homeschooling since the beginning and have been enjoying a Classical Charlotte Mason way of learning. Education, classical music, Christian music, history, literature, the arts, and nature are my passions.

Our Homeschool

We have been using Ambleside Online as our core curriculum for five years now. I am so grateful for the women who gave so much of their time and hearts to create this beautiful, free curriculum. Our family has grown together in this beautiful method of education and my husband and I have enjoyed our own fair share of learning along the way.

Lily of The Valley

This hymn was written by William Charles Fry in 1881.

I have found a friend in Jesus, He’s everything to me
He’s the fairest of ten thousand to my soul
The Lily of the Valley, in Him alone I see
All I need to cleanse and fully make me whole
In sorrow He’s my comfort, in trouble He’s my stay
He tells me every care on Him to roll
He’s the Lily of the Valley, He’s the Bright and Morning Star
He is the fairest of ten thousand to my soul

He will never, never leave me, nor yet forsake me here
While I live by faith and do His blessed will
A wall of fire about me, I have nothing now to fear
From His manna He my hungry soul shall fill
Then sweeping up to glory I’ll see His blessed face
Where the rivers of delight shall ever roll
He’s the Lily of the Valley, He’s the Bright and Morning Star
He is the fairest of ten thousand to my soul

I am the rose of Sharon, And the lily of the valleys.

Song of Solomon 2:1-3 KJV
